From the Coast to the Northern Tablelands

This is only an overnight stay but I thought it was worth its own blog as I took so many photos.
After Monday nights storm we awoke to a beautiful clear morning , packed the bike, put on our summer riding gear and headed for the hills.

Up the Oxley Highway which is listed as one of the great rides in our Motorcycle bible, with fantastic scenery and plenty of bends to enjoy. We were climbing, climbing all the way having so much fun until we hit the western side of the range where we nearly got hypothermia. It was f*#*'n freezing!!! After freezing our tits off for about 45 minutes we finally found a layby where we could put some extra clothes on, atleast we had sprayjackets which kept some of the wind out.

We finally made it to Armidale via Walcha,( the coldest place on earth). We saw some amazing gorges and waterfalls which were really belting down, due to the storms last night. Armidale is a lovely prosperous looking large country town with lovely parks and old churches and a university with buildings and grounds to rival Sydney Uni. We made straight to the pub for the Melb. Cup, didn't do any good but the Champas and beer was beaut.

Next day was another pearler and much warmer , thank God!
We decided to go back to Lauriton via the Kempsey Road which is a very windy, dirt road with sheer cliffs, no guard rails but the most amazing views of rivers, forests and countryside. I just love this great land of ours!! We saw a goanna, wild deer with big antlers and cattle on the road, I tell you it was straight out of "Deliverance"

I thought if you crossed the Styx river you ended up in Hell?!

No guard rails and you should see the drop.

These silly buggers wouldn't get out of our way.

I love this photo. It should be in a bike magazine.

At the end of 100ks of dirt was a very welcome site " The Bellbrook Hotel" A beer never tasted so good!!!"

After travelling 260kms we arrived back at our little van and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon lazing in the sun. Pure Bliss!
We had a drink and said good bye to our neighbours as we're off to South West Rocks tomorrow.
