On the Road Again...

After nearly three years since my last travel blog we are on the road again and what a holiday this one will be!
Firstly a week saying goodbye to my beautiful children in Newcastle plus our gorgeous new grandson Murphy.
Down to Port Pirie for a wedding and visits with another grandson Dale.
Then the adventure begins with a trip straight up the red centre of our wonderful country!

Week 1. Staying at Stockton Caravan Park which is a beauty right on the beach and a stone throw across the river to Newcastle. First morning  was spent exploring Stockton's shipwreck walk.

Plenty of family get togethers such as Dan's 31st birthday combined with an early Mother's Day

Enjoying visits with my little number one man Murphy Magnus.

Travelling over 1500 kms in 4 days.... from Newcastle to Port Pirie via Denman, Cobar, Broken Hill and Peterborough.
One of our favorite overnight stopovers.. The Newy Reservoir at Cobar.

Always makes for beautiful sunset pics
On the way from Broken Hill to Peterborough we came across this funny little town of Manna Hill in the middle of nowhere! A well preserved disused railway station, a pub and and old park with these amazing gates

A very decrepit looking park but what wonderful gates!

Next stopover....Peterborough, The Railway town where 4 rail lines crossed and all with different gauges!  This town has an amazing steam train museum with a light and sound show on every night showing  steam trains in their hay day going back to the late 1800's

Another little gem in Peterborough is this coffee shop in an old theatre with some great old  film memorabilia. Such a shame it serves probably the worst coffee in Australia!!!!

Then for the reason we came to Port Pirie... Our ex son-in-law, Jamie,  marries his beautiful new bride, Fern. I know pretty ironic that we're invited but so nice that we're all still  friends.

Our handsome grandson Dale and his brother Sam leads Fern down the aisle on a beautiful autumn day. Fern catches a mouth full of confetti!!
 s !

Next day recovery day, we thought we'd check out some Port Pirie sights. Being the largest white pointer caught in SA," Shakka the Shark" Caught by Jamie's, brother inlaw. 5.5 meters long and over 1,500 kilos

The iconic Port Pirie Railway station.

Tomorrow we are off to the Flinders Ranges and our adventure really begins!
